Outrigger Canoe were originally developed in South East Asia. They were used at transport to both eastward to Polynesia and New Zealand, and westward across the Indian Ocean as far as Madagascar. Today, it is a modern growing sport. Most outrigger racing can trace its roots to the Polynesian cultures of Tahiti and Hawaii.
VRC Emerald Bay and Deep Water Bay offers single crafts outrigger canoe for our members and private or small group lessons. VRC Paddle Team trains and competes in 6-man Outrigger Canoe based in Deep Water Bay.
